License Terms
Last Updated: July 16, 2026
Products on AppTrovo are sold under two editions. Not every product offers both — the author chooses. This page explains exactly what each edition grants and what you can and can't do with what you get.
The two editions
- Commercial License — the paid edition. Full commercial and production use. Every product offers this; where an author hasn't opted into a free tier, it's the only edition available.
- Community License — a free edition, with a limited feature set, that some authors offer. You may use it in production; the Commercial-only features stay locked until you upgrade to Commercial. The Community edition carries no author support.
What you get
- A perpetual license to use the product. No expiry, no recurring fees — for both editions.
- A unique license key tied to your AppTrovo account.
- Domain activations managed from your dashboard.
- All product updates the author releases, for as long as the product remains on AppTrovo.
- Commercial only: the author's support window (typically 6 months from purchase). Most products let you extend support for an additional fee from your purchase page. Community licenses do not include author support.
What you can do
- Use the product in one end project — your own, or your client's — including in production, on either edition.
- Modify the source to fit that project's needs.
- Activate, deactivate, and reactivate domains anytime from your dashboard.
- Transfer the license to another AppTrovo user via the Transfer feature in your dashboard. The recipient inherits all original terms.
What you cannot do
- Expect the Commercial-only features on a Community License — those are unlocked only by upgrading to Commercial.
- Use the same license in more than one end project. Buy a separate license for each project.
- Redistribute the source code as a standalone item, on AppTrovo or anywhere else.
- Include the product in a competing product on this or any other marketplace.
- Sublicense, resell, or share the license key with anyone outside the project it was purchased for.
- Bypass, remove, or tamper with any license verification mechanism the product ships with.
Domain activations
Each license is verified through our License API.
- A "domain" includes its subdomains (for example,
example.comcoversapp.example.com). - Local development hostnames (
localhost,*.test,*.local) and private IPs do not count toward your slot limit. - You can deactivate a domain at any time to free a slot for another.
Updates and product retirement
You receive every update the author publishes for the product. If a product is later retired (unlisted) from the marketplace, your license remains valid and continues to verify against our License API for the full life of your installation — retirement does not invalidate licenses already issued.
Refunds and license deactivation
If your purchase is refunded, the license is automatically deactivated and any active domain installs stop verifying. Continuing to use the product after a refund violates these terms.
Enforcement
Violations may result in license deactivation, account suspension, removal of access to your dashboard, and legal action where appropriate. If you discover unauthorized use of a product you've purchased or authored, report it to support@apptrovo.com.
Questions
For licensing questions before you buy, ask the author directly through their product page. For everything else, contact support@apptrovo.com.
