Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") constitute a legally binding agreement between you and AppTrovo ("Company", "we", "us"). By creating an account, browsing, purchasing, or selling on apptrovo.com (the "Platform"), you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy.

If you are accepting these Terms on behalf of a company or other legal entity, you represent that you have the authority to bind that entity to these Terms. If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, you must not use our Platform.

2. About the Platform

AppTrovo is an online marketplace that connects software developers ("Authors") with individuals and businesses ("Buyers") seeking production-ready applications — SaaS platforms, e-commerce solutions, multi-vendor systems, PWAs, mobile apps, API backends, AI apps, and full web applications ("Items"). AppTrovo provides the infrastructure for listing, discovering, purchasing, licensing, and downloading Items. We are an intermediary — we do not develop, endorse, warrant, or take responsibility for Items listed by Authors.

3. Eligibility & Accounts

3.1 Age Requirement

You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction) to use our Platform. By registering, you represent and warrant that you meet this requirement.

3.2 Account Responsibilities

  • You must provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration.
  • You are solely responsible for all activity under your account and for keeping your credentials secure.
  • You must notify us immediately at support@apptrovo.com if you suspect unauthorized access.
  • Each person or entity may maintain only one account unless expressly authorized in writing.

3.3 Account Suspension & Termination

We reserve the right to suspend, restrict, or permanently terminate any account that violates these Terms, engages in fraudulent activity, or is flagged by our automated fraud detection systems. Critical violations (e.g., malware distribution, chargeback abuse) may result in immediate suspension without prior notice.

4. Buying on AppTrovo

4.1 What You're Purchasing

When you buy an Item, you are purchasing a license to use that Item under AppTrovo's single license type. You do not acquire ownership of the Item's source code, intellectual property, or any rights beyond those specified in the license. All licenses are subject to our License Terms.

4.2 License Type

  • Regular License (the only license we offer): Use in a single end product — personal projects, internal tools, or client projects. Each license can be activated on up to 3 domains. AppTrovo does not offer an "Extended" or reseller license; if you need to bundle an Item into a product you sell on to many customers, contact the Author directly.

4.3 Buyer Obligations

  • You may not redistribute, resell, sublicense, or share purchased Items as standalone products.
  • You may not include Items in competing marketplace listings or "collection" products.
  • You must respect license activation limits and domain restrictions.
  • Each license covers one project — multiple projects require separate licenses.

4.4 Downloads & Updates

After purchase, you may download the current version and all future updates of the Item at no additional cost. Updates are provided at the Author's discretion. We retain the right to disable downloads if a license is refunded, transferred, or revoked.

5. Selling on AppTrovo

5.1 Becoming an Author

To sell Items, existing buyers apply for an Author account from their dashboard. Applications are reviewed by AppTrovo before approval. By becoming an Author, you agree to our Author Terms in addition to these Terms.

5.2 Author Responsibilities

  • You must own or have the legal right to distribute all content you submit.
  • Items must be original — plagiarized, stolen, or nulled code will result in immediate account termination.
  • You must provide accurate descriptions, working demos where applicable, and comprehensive documentation.
  • You must respond to buyer support tickets within 72 hours.
  • You must promptly release security patches when vulnerabilities are discovered in your Items.

5.3 Quality Review

Every submitted Item is run through AppTrovo's automated review pipeline, which includes file integrity + size validation, malware and hardcoded-secret scanning, license-compliance and dependency audits, static code analysis, performance and accessibility checks, description and SEO quality grading, plagiarism/duplicate detection, spam/fraud signals, documentation and changelog quality, and demo-URL verification. A human reviewer confirms the automated results and decides the outcome. Items may be soft-rejected (fix and resubmit) or hard-rejected (permanent).

5.4 Item Removal

We may remove Items that violate these Terms, infringe intellectual property rights, receive sustained negative feedback without Author resolution, contain security vulnerabilities, or become incompatible with current technology standards.

Removal unlists an Item from the marketplace but does not invalidate licenses already issued to existing buyers. Their installations continue to verify against our license API for the full life of the license. Items that have issued at least one license cannot be permanently deleted — the sale record is retained so buyers are never stranded.

6. Pricing, Payments & Fees

6.1 Pricing

  • Authors set their own prices. All prices are listed in USD.
  • Applicable taxes (VAT, GST, sales tax) are calculated and added at checkout based on the buyer's location.
  • Authors may issue their own discount coupons for their own Items. AppTrovo may also run marketplace-wide promotions with advance notice to Authors.

6.2 Payment Processing

All payments are processed through Stripe, our PCI-DSS compliant payment processor. We accept major credit and debit cards. Card details are handled directly by Stripe and are never stored on AppTrovo's servers.

Stripe charges a processing fee on every successful charge. The exact amount varies by payment method, currency, and country, and is confirmed by Stripe after each charge. Each Author chooses — from their Payment Settings — whether to absorb that fee (deducted from their payout) or to pass it to the buyer as a line item at checkout. AppTrovo does not absorb Stripe processing fees.

6.3 Author Earnings & Payouts

  • AppTrovo's platform fee is a flat 10% of each sale. There are no tiered rates, volume discounts, or hidden platform fees. Authors keep the remaining 90% minus any Stripe processing fees they have elected to absorb.
  • Stripe processing fees are separate from the platform fee and are handled per each Author's preference (Author absorbs, or Buyer absorbs at checkout). The actual fee is pulled from Stripe's balance_transaction and shown on each earning after the charge.
  • Earnings enter a "pending" state at the time of sale and become "available" for payout after the refund window elapses (30 days by default). This protects both parties from payout reversal on refunded orders.
  • Payouts are disbursed via Stripe Connect to your connected bank or card. Minimum payout threshold: $50 USD.
  • If a buyer successfully refunds an order whose earnings have already been paid out, the reversed amount is deducted from your next payout.
  • We reserve the right to withhold payouts pending investigation of suspicious activity.

6.4 Taxes

You are responsible for reporting and paying all taxes applicable to your transactions. Authors are responsible for their own income tax obligations. AppTrovo may collect and remit sales tax, VAT, or GST where legally required, and will provide reporting data through the Author dashboard.

7. Refunds & Disputes

7.1 Refund Policy

We offer a 30-day refund window on all eligible purchases, subject to the conditions outlined in our Refund Policy. Buyers request refunds from their account dashboard. Small-value refunds or refunds on Items that were never downloaded may be auto-approved; larger claims are reviewed by our team.

7.2 Dispute Resolution

If you have a complaint about an Item or transaction:

  1. Contact the Author via our support ticket system first.
  2. If unresolved, open a dispute from the order in your dashboard. Our team will mediate.
  3. Disputes pending for more than 48 hours without Author response may be auto-escalated for AppTrovo review.
  4. If mediation fails, either party may pursue legal remedies in accordance with the governing law specified below.

7.3 Chargebacks

Filing a chargeback with your bank instead of using our dispute resolution system is a violation of these Terms. Accounts associated with unauthorized chargebacks will be suspended, and we reserve the right to pursue recovery of disputed amounts.

8. Intellectual Property

8.1 Platform IP

The Platform, including its design, logos, brand elements, code, text, graphics, and all software components, is owned by AppTrovo or its licensors and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from Platform content.

8.2 Author IP

Authors retain full ownership of their Items. By listing an Item on AppTrovo, Authors grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide license to display, market, and distribute the Item through our Platform. This license terminates when the Item is removed (subject to fulfillment of existing buyer licenses).

8.3 DMCA & Takedown Requests

We respect intellectual property rights. If you believe an Item infringes your copyright, submit a DMCA takedown notice to support@apptrovo.com with: (a) identification of the copyrighted work, (b) identification of the infringing material, (c) your contact information, and (d) a statement of good faith belief. Counter-notices may be filed as permitted by law.

9. Prohibited Conduct

You agree not to:

  • Upload, distribute, or promote malicious code, malware, viruses, or security exploits
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, disassemble, or circumvent license verification or copy protection
  • Use the Platform for any illegal, fraudulent, or unauthorized purpose
  • Engage in price manipulation, fake reviews, self-purchasing, or artificial sales inflation
  • Create multiple accounts to circumvent bans, restrictions, or to abuse promotions and coupons
  • Harass, threaten, defame, or impersonate any person or entity
  • Scrape, crawl, spider, or use automated tools to access the Platform without written permission
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems, networks, or other users' accounts
  • Interfere with or disrupt the integrity, security, or performance of the Platform
  • Use purchased Items to build a competing marketplace or code-sharing platform

10. Privacy & Data Protection

Our collection and use of personal data is governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated by reference. By using the Platform, you consent to the data practices described therein. Key points:

  • We collect only the data necessary to operate the Platform and process transactions.
  • We do not sell personal data to third parties.
  • We comply with GDPR, CCPA, and other applicable data protection regulations.
  • You have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data at any time from your account settings or by contacting support@apptrovo.com.

11. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE PLATFORM AND ALL ITEMS LISTED ON IT ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, AND ACCURACY.

We do not warrant that: (a) the Platform will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free; (b) Items will meet your requirements or expectations; (c) any defects in Items will be corrected by Authors; or (d) the Platform or its servers are free of viruses or harmful components.

12. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL APPTROVO, ITS DIRECTORS, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, OR AGENTS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, USE, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO:

  • Your use of or inability to use the Platform
  • Any Item purchased or obtained through the Platform
  • Unauthorized access to or alteration of your data or transmissions
  • Statements or conduct of any third party on the Platform
  • Any other matter relating to the Platform

Our total cumulative liability to you for all claims arising from these Terms or your use of the Platform shall not exceed the greater of: (a) the amounts paid by you to AppTrovo in the 12 months preceding the claim, or (b) $100 USD.

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless AppTrovo, its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from: (a) your use of the Platform; (b) your violation of these Terms; (c) your violation of any third-party rights; or (d) any Item you submit or distribute through the Platform.

14. Governing Law & Jurisdiction

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which AppTrovo is incorporated, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be resolved exclusively in the courts of that jurisdiction. Notwithstanding the foregoing, either party may seek injunctive or equitable relief in any court of competent jurisdiction.

15. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect. The invalid provision shall be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it valid while preserving its original intent.

16. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, License Terms, Author Terms, and Refund Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and AppTrovo regarding your use of the Platform. These Terms supersede all prior agreements, communications, and proposals, whether oral or written.

17. Changes to These Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. When we make material changes, we will:

  • Post the revised Terms on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date
  • Send notification via email to registered users
  • Display a prominent notice on the Platform for at least 14 days

Your continued use of the Platform after the effective date of any modifications constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. If you disagree with any changes, your sole remedy is to discontinue use of the Platform.
